So this is my first blog I guess. Hoorah! Well anyways I'm Clare and I'm one of those green people. Well I try to be, even though I could do a lot better. Gloabal warming freaks me out A LOT. Tsunamis are especially frightening. HUGE ASS WAVES...not cool. Anyways, there's this book I'm reading called Field Notes from a Catastrophe by Elizabeth Kolbert and it's about, you guessed it, global warming and the like. It's actually pretty interesting and very informative. Like it's actually readable. I learned that as glaciers in the Arctic melt they don't make the water colder but actually make it easier for the water to get warmer because water absorbs heat while ice reflects it. So the more open water there is, the more solar energy there is that goes into heating the ocean.
By the year 2080 it is predicted that there will no longer by ice in the Arctic in the summer months. What are the penguins going to do? Or are they only in Antarctica? Is that the same? Shit...I don't know everything about the globe and such but I know that we're messing it up and I hope to do something about it some day. Or now. So I'm gonna go make sure all the unnecessary appliances in my house are off. Peace Out.
